Giza travel guide

Giza is a city in Egypt that is famous for its ancient pyramids, the last remaining wonder of the ancient world. The pyramids of Giza are located on the edge of the desert, 9km from the Nile river, and they are a must-see attraction for any visitor to Egypt. Giza is also a suburb of Cairo, the national capital, and has a distinctive character enriched by several archaeological and cultural sites. Here are some short paragraphs about Giza city:

  • Giza was founded in the fourth century BC, but it was probably a small village since ancient times of Egyptian history. It was located in the center Kingdom.
  • Giza is home to the Giza Plateau, where the magnificent pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure stand tall, as well as the enigmatic Sphinx. These monuments were built as tombs for the pharaohs of the 4th dynasty, around 2500 BC. They are among the most impressive and mysterious structures in the world, and they have been visited by travelers for millennia.
  • Giza is also a modern city that offers a variety of attractions for tourists and locals alike. You can visit the the Eastern Cemetery, where you can see some smaller pyramids and tombs of the nobles and officials of ancient Egypt. You can also explore the modern side of Giza, where you can find shops, cafes, restaurants, and hotels.
