10 Days in Cairo, Alexandria, Hurghada

After enjoying your first meal in the morning at the hotel, a tour guide from Osha Tours will be waiting in the lobby of the hotel and will lead you on your tours in Cairo. To begin with, an exciting thrilling tour of the Giza Pyramids would be the most appropriate starting point for this day, as you will bask in the glory of these wonderful buildings built during the Old Kingdom of Egypt by the greatest kings and rulers of the ancient civilization. 

You will visit the Great Pyramid of Khufu, built on the plans of his father, King Snefru, the founder of the Fourth Dynasty, who made three large pyramids, two of which are in Dahshur, not far Giza. ‘Khufu’ or ‘Cheops’ as he is called by history built the pyramid from around 2 million limestone blocks all stacked in an awe fashion inside a tomb that was meant to be his comfort zone, his corporeal shell after death, the place from which he would rise to the skies.

After your breakfast at the hotel, you will meet your tour guide at the lobby of the hotel so that you can start your exciting trip to the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, Coptic area, and Islamic Cairo.

Then you will be taken to the Egyptian Museum where you will have a two-hour guided excursion. This building located at the heart of Cairo has stood as a statue for over 120 years. The building and its contents serve the purpose of enabling the world to understand the glory of the ancient civilization that was Egypt. Your host will elaborate on the various display cases including that housing the exhibits of the golden treasures of King Tutankhamun.

Later, you will head to the Citadel of Salah El Din and the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali which is one fine example of Ottoman architecture located in Cairo. The structure is said to be inspired by the famous Blue Mosque situated in Istanbul. The Citadel, constructed during the Islamic times, served as a fortress within the city but also acted as the center of the Egyptian administration as it was established by Salah El Din.

Having enjoyed delicious food at an oriental restaurant, you will visit Old Cairo’s churches, where you will find the ruins of a Roman-era fort known as the Fortress of Babylon. The Hanging Church of Old Cairo, one of the important structures you will enjoy, is also located in this region, as well as St. Sergius Church, also known as the Cavern Church, built above a cave that is said to have protected the Virgin Mary and Infant Jesus for nearly three months. Last on your list will be the Ben Ezra Synagogue, an adaptive reuse of a Christian church that had existed for ages before it was converted into a Jewish place of worship.

Exciting water sports like snorkeling and diving will be at your disposal. End the day in one of the resorts in Hurghada.
